At this workshop, new lacquer varieties are developed to meet the needs of the times while preserving traditional techniques. You can observe how the lacquer raw materials are refined and also a demonstration by a lacquer craftsman. You will be presented with a "Tableware lacquer kit" for you to try your hand at home.

　Lacquer may cause chafing depending on one's physical constitution or physical condition. When visiting the workshop or working with lacquer, please keep skin exposure to a minimum and wear gloves, especially when working with lacquer. Please note that Asakichi Tsutsumi Lacquer Shop and Kyoto Kobo Concierge will not be responsible for any "lacquer rash".
